Physical Exams

Before the children arrive on the 22nd of February they needed to go to the hospital for a full body examination.
So David (our translator) and I (Ben) went last week and met all 13 children at the hospital. Even though we were seeing them in the hospital, we were really excited to see all the children again. Last time the children saw Michelle and I was during our child search and many of them were quite scared due to all the strangers coming into their home asking so many questions. This time they all seemed to be more relaxed, they were even comfortable enough to allow me to help button up their coats before they left, like the picture below.

The old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words, below are many pictures of what the children experienced that day.

First the doctor had to get all the children’s information from their guardians, then he checked their body for any physical problems

Emma (left) and Zoey (right) getting ready to be checked.

Second step was for the children to get their blood tested (like Gene below left), but all the children saw that we brought a treat for afterward (Noah below right sucking on his lolly pop) so they all were tough little boys and girls and not one cried…which is amazing because I do each time I give blood:(

Third the children all had their hearts checked as you can see Gene (below left) doing. While Gene was being checked out, some of the other children wanted a quick peek to see what they had to do next, like Mark, Gabe and Graham are doing below right (names left to right)

Then all the children had an x-ray of their lungs taken like Noah in the below picture.

The children were told not to eat breakfast that morning so we brought them each a banana, 2 breads, a box of milk and a sucker for the blood test:)

By the end of the hospital visit most of the children seemed almost like best friends.
