More construction!
We wanted to keep you posted on the construction process so you can see the progress too. Thank you for your support and thoughts while we are preparing our building for the children to arrive this February.
All the rooms are very narrow and long, which does not leave a lot of room for the children to be able to put their things, like their extra clothes, toys and other personal items. So we decided to build one big closet that all the children will share. We were blessed to have hired David as a translator. He not only works hard with the many different tasks of being a translator, but he also likes to work with his hands to build things. Without his help, Michelle and I would have had to hire more contractors to do the minor building and plumbing work that David, Michelle and I were able to accomplish.
The first step was getting the material and laying out the walls
The next step was building the walls and the ceiling. (Above the closet will be used for extra storage space)
Then David and I needed a little extra help to lift the ceiling up, which my 3 sons (Jaxin Eli and Tyler) jumped at the chance to do.
And of course we had to test our newly built walls to make sure it was sturdy
We also built a wall in the study hall for our future library, and we built a wall in kitchen for the pantry.
Once all the walls were built we had the fun job of hanging the drywall.
There was some minor plumbing work that also needed to be completed, which David and I finished in 2 days. We still need to buy and install some of the sinks, faucets and water heaters, but the installation of the sewer and water piping is finished.
Picture above right is of the new installed plumbing and the beginning construction of our dining hall sinks
While we were finishing the work that we are capable to do, we hired a brick/tile contractor to build the dining hall sink and install the necessary tile to protect the walls in the dining hall and kitchen. He also is plastering all the walls to make them smooth for the painter to come and make all the rooms look brand new.
We also hired an electrician to remove all the old aluminum wiring and installed new copper wiring with new plugs and lights to each room.
As you can tell by the picture (above right) the new wiring is installed in a much safer and less obvious manner.
We again would like to thank you for the support you have given and we ask that you keep us in your thoughts to raise the reminding funding that is needed to start buying all the necessary materials to give the children a home full of joy and love.
