Mid Autumn Festival
A box of moon cakes that we were given at one of the stores we regularly shop at.
June (our cook and is the young lady standing in the picture above) and some of our other housemothers cooked a wonderful spread of different dishes for the children to eat.
Some of our children getting ready to dig in to the tasty food. (Clockwise starting bottom left: Jake, Debbie, Tyler (our youngest son), Gabe, Emma, Noah, Graham, Danny, Mark, Joey and Jaxin (our eldest son).
The children welcome in the moon by reciting a poem to itJaxin (our eldest son) getting ready to get his treats.
Bonfires are always fun. Gabe (the boy standing in the center) helped build the fire and get it going.
When we met Sarah, her grandparents were so fed up with her that when we asked how she behaved they just laughed and told us she was terrible. When we asked to see where she slept they pointed to an old bamboo mat that was on the dirt floor (all of our other children slept with their grandparents). Sarah’s first month here was very hard to get through. When she started school she got less then 40% on both her Chinese and math test. The harder she made it for us, the more we knew she needed our love.
We want to thank you for your continued prayer and financial support. With it we are able to reach out and give hope to the hopeless. We understand that everyday we all face challenges and struggles; but when we choose to put those struggles aside and reach out to the lost, our reward is priceless.
Because of your continued support Sarah is a completely different person. We can remember very distinctly when she hugged us for the first time and told us that she loved us. By the end of school semester last year she scored over 95% in both her Chinese and Math class. She has made such a change that she is an absolute joy to be around and all the other children here want to be her friend.
