Children’s Day
Our children had a 3 day weekend over Children’s Day, we decided to make it a very special time. We started the festivities off with a bonfire and s’mores; as you can see Dana eating in the above picture!
After the bonfire, we had the kids come in for an unexpected movie night. Every Saturday the kids come in for a movie so to get to come in on Thursday, was quite a surprise!
Friday
One day while Michelle and I were out running, we saw some horses grazing along the river. We stopped and asked if they minded bringing the horses to our yard for our kids to see them. Crystal said this was the first time she not only saw a horse, but got to ride one. She was extremely excited as you can see in the above picture.
When the owners agreed to bring the horses here, we had no idea they were going to bring a carriage or allow our kids to ride them. The owner walked the kids for a one mile carriage ride allowing the kids to sit in the front seat acting like they were controlling the cart; like you see Debbie and Sarah doing!
Becca was very excited too and told us how surprised she was. She had never dreamed of even seeing a horse. And now she got to ride in a carriage and go horse back riding.
After all the kids had a chance to ride, the owner said we could take one more ride. Michelle and some of our housemothers jumped in for a ride.
Davey on the left and Dana on the right had a turn riding the horse.
Lester on the left and Graham on the right had a turn riding the horse.
Wendy(left) had just got back home from school to get a ride and Catina was a little afraid, so I got to have a “Daddy Daughter ride”…poor horse.
We just can’t express how excited our kids were being able to see the horses. When we told Davey it was his turn to ride, he was just too excited and could not stop smiling!
Saturday
Our city can really pull through and help spread love and joy to our kids, especially on Children’s Day. We actually have to turn down offers of activities for our kids to do. One group of people in Pingyu who help orphaned children and elderly, came and said they would like to take our kids out to the amazement park and out to lunch.
Zoey(left) and Hollie shared a bumper car.
The really nice thing about this besides the awesome food, is the fact that this gave our hard working housemothers a break from cooking!
Then after lunch they told us the local theater is giving free movie tickets away to children and they offered to pay for the staff and Michelle and I to take our kids to the movie. We had no idea it was going to be at the newly opened iMax theater…WOW our kids are so blessed!
Sunday
A local Kungfu class came and preformed for our kids, then gave them 3D puzzles. He made it into a competition which was quite funny because he gave our three boys very difficult ones to put together!
Our New Van!
Michelle and I want to express our gratitude to all those who support our family here in Pingyu. It is such a blessing to serve these wonderful children. We hope this update can show you some of the joy we get to experience on a daily basis. We thank you again for helping to spread love, joy and hope to such wonderful children.
Blessings
Ben and Michelle
