PingYu Home of Hope

This year we celebrated our 10th Summer Camp in Xuzhou at the 2nd Home of Hope location. Unfortunately, the Gongyi Home of Hope kids could not join us this year, but you can look on their website to see their summer fun. We decided to make this summer camp a little shorter because of the heat and we had several volunteers who were limited in time. Also, though Xuzhou is a beautiful city with many things to go and see, their yard is too small to organize our normal games that we play.
今年是在徐州我们的第二个希望之家举行夏令营，也是我们第十个年头举办夏令营。很遗憾地是，巩义希望之家的孩子们今年不能参加夏令营，但是可以通过看网站了解我们的夏令营情况。今年的夏令营与往年相比时间要短原因是天气太热，还有参加的志愿者时间又比较有限。另外，徐州市一个非常美丽的城市许多可以观光和娱乐的地方，但是希望之家的院子太小以至于之前准备的很多游戏，都没办法进行。
We started off our trip early Friday morning with loading up the kids for a 5 hour bus ride to Xuzhou. Davey was very excited because this was his first time being able to go out to celebrate in our summer camp.
我们星期五起了个大早，坐上了到徐州的大巴车，行驶五个小时之久终于到达目的地。小金福非常的兴奋，因为他是第一次出远门，参加夏令营。
The bus was very comfortable with good working air conditioning and most importantly, a working TV:) 大巴车非常的舒适，而且最重要的是空调可以用。

The theme of our camp this year was “FOLLOW”. We had three teams, Team FOx, Team LLama and Team OWl…together they spell FOLLOW! Xuzhou has many beautiful sites to see and we were going to be doing a lot of walking. We climbed/walked up 2 mountains, went swimming and went to a huge museum. The kids had to FOLLOW instructions and FOLLOW the leaders to stay with the teams.
今年的夏令营主题是“跟随”。我们分了三个小组，第一小组代号是“狐狸” ；二小组“骆驼”；三小组“猫头鹰”、、、在一起拼写就是词语“跟随”！徐州有许多好看的风景，我们一边步行一边欣赏，走了很多的路。我去爬了两座山，去了游泳和参观一个很大的博物馆。孩子们需要学习跟随领导者和团队合作。

After we arrived and settled into Xuzhou we took the kids out for a walk in the near by park that surrounds a lake. We passed out bubbles to keep the younger ones entertained but they were all enjoying the scenery.
我们一到徐州，就带领孩子们出去到附近的的一个公园散步，公园中间的一条大型湖。给小一点的孩子分发了，吹泡泡东西，引起孩子们的兴趣。但是他们非常喜欢这里的风景。
Catina loves sitting on anyones shoulders..she climbed up on mine without me really even knowing she was there:) Danny enjoying the walk and bubbles too! Below is just a little of what we were able to see that night!
秀云非常喜欢坐在别人的肩膀上。。他爬上了我的肩膀我甚至都没有注意到她在那里：）新放也很享受的在吹泡泡和散步！下面的是一些在晚上可以看到的！

2nd Day

We started off each day playing some quick games to get the kids together. The great thing about our volunteers was not only did they help watch all the kids, but they came with new and exciting games for the kids to play!
每天开始之前先玩一些小的游戏来让孩子们可以一起。很棒的事是我们的志愿者不但帮助我们看管小孩而且他们又带来了一些的新的游戏给孩子们！

After the morning roll call, we went to climb a mountain. This is very special for our kids because we live in Pingyu, which Ping translates into flat or level. Most of our children have never seen a mountain before, let alone be able to climb two!
早晨点完名后，我去了爬上。这对于我们的孩子来说非常特别因为我们住在平舆，“平”翻译过来就是平，没有起伏、平坦。之前我们的孩子们没有见过大山，更不必说爬了两座山

The kids got pretty hot, thankfully their was a place that sold cold waters and popsicles.
孩子们都非常的热，感恩地是我们找有卖冰水喝冰棒的地方。



That afternoon, we all went to the Lake for a nice swim.
那天下午，我都去了湖边游泳。

We were so thankful for all the volunteers to help make our camp safe and enjoyable.
我们非常感恩所有的志愿者的帮助和给孩子们带来的欢乐时光。

3rd Day

This was all the names of the solders who died in China’s civil war between MaoZeDong and Chiang KaiShek. Gene and Joey, along with all the kids looked to see if they could find their name listed. Joey was the only one out of 33 kids who found his exact name in Chinese characters.
这些全部都是在中国内战期间牺牲的战士。王子昂和小宝，还有一些孩子他们想找到那些战士的名单上有没有和他们的名字一样的人。
After the museum we brought the kids to another mountain to climb. We first ate lunch at the bottom. The kids loved it, we had hotdogs, chips, veggies and a soda.
等到参观博物馆后又带孩子们去爬了另一座山。首先在山脚下吃了午餐。孩子们非常喜欢，我吃了热狗、薯条、蔬菜和一瓶饮料。



That night after dinner we made banana splits for everyone. The kids loved them!
晚饭过后给每个人做了香蕉冰激凌。孩子们非常喜欢！
